The Sky Tonight

The Sky Tonight stargazing tour is generally hosted after the New Moon but before the Full Moon.

This is in between dark moon-free night. With the Moon present, the sky is dark enough to show other celestial bodies and star patterns. It is also an ideal time to learn more about the changing night sky.

You are introduced to stargazing concepts. Visible objects and star patterns are highlighted. It is an ideal time to learn how to stargaze and understand astronomy basics.

No astronomy or science knowledge is required.

When the Moon's disc is more than half bright, after the first quarter moon, you may still be able to book into The Sky Tonight or another sky show focused on Moon information - Discover the Moon.

A sky guide provides live commentary. A telescope operator engages a variety of optical instruments to facilitate views. However, naked-eye views of the vast outback sky create the most memorable experience.

A personal audio unit is loaned to you on the night. Bring your own cabled 3.5mm ear phones or buy online at the time of booking.

Outback Astronomy supplies binoculars, telescopes, a variety of seating options, as well as food and beverage options.
