Menindee

Menindee is the oldest European settlement in western NSW and the first town to be established on the Darling River. Once an important trading hub in the 1800s, Menindee now draws tourists to its stunning inland lakes and natural wonders. Approximately 115 km drive from Broken Hill, Menindee Lakes water storage system when full, holds over three and a half times the water of Sydney Harbour and provides a haven for water birds of all kinds. The lakes are well protected within Kinchega National Park.
