One of the easiest and most rewarding day trips from Broken Hill is to Silverton. Only 25km from the City, here you can experience a classic outback town. Silverton and its spectacular surrounds offer an array of unique finds - original outback art housed in heritage stone buildings, take a guided underground tour through a former silver mine at Historic Daydream Mine and get an insight into the harsh realities of mining a century ago, the Mad Max Museum is a tribute to the movie Mad Max 2, showcasing a huge display of props, life size characters and photographs from the film. If Broken Hill is the engine room for film makers in the region, Silverton is the film set.
