Tibooburra and Sturt National Park. Make a day trip to Tibooburra and the state’s largest arid zone park named after the explorer Charles Sturt. Pass hills on the east of the highway named after John Macdouall Stuart, a member of Sturt’s party. Tibooburra has a range of great locations for meals and drinks, as well as a new community museum, the National Park’s headquarters and courthouse museum. A heritage trail map is located on signage near the public school. Try your hand at prospecting on the Tibooburra Common, permits are available at the local stores.
